Coastal Marina Management is proud to oversee a series of prestigious fishing tournaments along the Gulf Coast, including the Orange Beach Open at The Wharf Marina, known for its relaxed, fun atmosphere and focus on Billfish release. We also manage the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship, a multi-tournament point series that recognizes the top boat across the region’s leading big game fishing competitions. The Orange Beach Billfish Classic, part of the Triple Crown, has raised over $500,000 for marine conservation projects through the Billfish Foundation and CCA. Our involvement in the Blue Marlin Grand Championship of the Gulf at The Wharf Marina has helped create an unforgettable experience, combining top-tier tournament action with the unique Southern charm of the Gulf Coast, making it the premier event in sportfishing.

Orange Beach Open

The Orange Beach Open offers an exceptional tournament fishing experience at The Wharf Marina in Orange Beach, Alabama, designed for anglers of all skill levels. With a focus on a low-stress, fun environment for families and friends, this tournament sets the standard for recreational sportfishing. It features trolling only, with all Billfish required to be released, ensuring a sustainable approach to conservation. Anglers target Tuna, Wahoo, and Dolphin using only dead bait and artificial lures, making for an exciting and fair competition. The newly enhanced format ensures a memorable and rewarding experience for all participants, combining the thrill of the catch with the camaraderie of the sport.

These ingredients, and many others, led to the creation of the Billfish tournament which has become known as the Greatest Show In Sportfishing. Well thought-out and carefully executed tournament parties and events centered around the marina and its upland amenities. A weigh-in arena and spectacular experience unlike anywhere in the world. The Blue Marlin Grand Championship is not only the finale of the acclaimed Gulf Coast Triple Crown Series — but a tournament experience you simply don't want to miss. We'll even throw in a little Southern glamour for good measure. It happens each July at the Wharf.

Orange Beach Billfish Classic

The Orange Beach Billfish Classic (OBBC) is a premier event and one of the ten sanctioned tournaments in the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship. This prestigious tournament not only offers competitive sportfishing but also plays a vital role in marine conservation. Each year, OBBC serves as a major fundraiser for the Billfish Foundation and the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA), with proceeds directed toward vital conservation efforts. In 2011 alone, the tournament raised over $50,000 for these 501(c)(3) organizations, bringing the total amount donated to marine conservation to over $500,000. OBBC continues to make a significant impact, combining sportfishing excellence with environmental stewardship.
